I don't think I ever saw a receiver with a spectrum analyzer, why do most or all not have any? Do any receivers have a spectrum analyzer?

Thanks

Sacha,

Maybe it’s because on receivers, those things are basically toys – just a blinking light display.

A real spectrum analyzer is used to set up a system, usually with equalizers. It will have a 1/3-octave or finer display, with a calibrated mic to read the signal from the speakers. Usually there is a built-in pink noise generator.

Wayne, one of HTF's greatest gurus of system measurement and equalization, tells it like it is.

Even if you could/did find a receiver with this in it, it is nothing more than a neat little light show. Generaly extremly inaccurate and as Wayne mentions, the real deal is found in "true" measuring RTA's & high end equalizing devices and generaly cost some serious change....

Geoff
