Receiver turns on by itself after power failure? (1 Viewer)

I have noticed that the last few times our power has failed, my receiver has turned itself on when the power comes back, even if it was off before the outage.

The receiver is a Sony STR-DB1070, and works fine otherwise. Does anyone else with one of these have this problem? There is also a 400 disc DVD changer, a DirecTV TiVo box, a VCR, and a DLP projector on the same circuit, but none of those seem to be affected in this way.

The power went out again this morning, and it came back on around 4 AM. The last thing selected was the DirecTV input, and needless to say I don't want the kind of shows that air at 4 AM blasting out sound when I am trying to sleep...

Any ideas?

If this reciever is the usual kind, it has a "standby" control. Does it also have an actual power switch? If so, and you set that to "on", so as to use the power function on the remote control, it may default to powering up due to the outage erasing the setting telling it that it is turned off [just like unplugging it]. If not, you may be able to change the setting; I know that my computer has 3 settings in the BIOS for behaviour after a power failure, "on" "off" and "last". Probably there is something similar buried in your service menu.
