Well my budget just drastically changed so instead of looking at the outlaw 950/7100 I am now looking for a receiver around $300. Any suggestions? My current system consists of a sony trinitron tv with S-Video input, Panasonic DVD player with S-Video and component out and coax and optical digital audio, sat dish with S-Video and a VCR with just component. I have Infinity Alpha speakers (10-200W fronts, 10-150w center, 10-100W surround). So what I am looking for is a receiver that will do a good job at powering my speakers (I have a small room, about 12X12) and has digital in and S-Video out and maybe component out (but not critical). I know this list is very specific but I would appreciate any comments on receivers in that price range and I can check out the specs. Thanks.

I think your best bet is the Pioneer VSX-812K. It can be found new for $299.

    2 Optical Digital Ins
    1 Optical Digital Out
    2 Coaxial Digital Ins
    Preamp Outputs for all channels
    2 Comp Video Ins
    1 Comp Video Out
    I believe 3 or 4 S-Video Ins
    2 S-Video Outs
    7.1 CHannel Inputs as well

I'm sure the receiver has to suffer elsewhere, probably the amp department and all, but the receiver actually performs very well. C-Net liked the 912 very much. The 912 adds a bit better remote, 10 more watts per channel, and Auto MCACC

I don't know if you have Tweeter were you are but they have the Yamaha RXV530 on sale for $200 and the RXV730 for $400.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I went to with my fiance to Fry's because they were having a sale on the H/K 125 for $279. They also had the H/K 225, 325, and 525. The 525 is on sale for $699 and my fiance was complaining because the 525 is less than the 325 so she suggested I just get the 525. How can I argue with that [IMG] So now I have a H/K 525. I just got it setup and it sounds wonderful! I cant believe the difference. Thanks again for the suggestions.

I was gonna suggest the HK 225 for $299 at Fry's but if the 525 is $699 and the fiance encouraged you to get it, why complain? I can see why you're marrying her. Good job.
