I am in the market for a new receiver - currently running an ancient Dolby Pro Logic Kenwood 5570. I have BA HD-9s as mains, and recently ourchased through eBay: HD-5s as back surrounds, BA 4004v center channel, and a PV400 subwoofer.

I have heard and read about matching speakers with a receiver. As a newbie, I am lost but want to get the best sound with what I have...btw I work for a non-profit with limited income so trying to make the most with the least.[IMG]

I am intrigued by the reviews of the Panasonic XR57 - seem to get alot for the money. ALthough some report that it is shrill and high (?).

I throw myself upon your mercy for guidance and advice.
    Many thanks.

Boston is made by the same company that makes Denon, Marantz, and Mcintosh. I would recommend Denon or an Onkyo.

    Thanks Seth.

I was looking at the Onkyo 603(?) I think.
Is there a big difference in the tonal qualities of receivers?
I have heard descriptions of bright and warm...where would Onkyo fall?

I assume that the Panasonic would fall into the category of bright.

Any insight for my continuing HT education.
    Thanks
