I want to use an old stereo reciever for some stereo tv sound. Essentially, there are three inputs, and one of them will be used by a portable CD player.

Input sensitivity/impedance is different across the three:

1 - 2.2mV / 47k ohms
2 - 135mV / 22k ohms
3 - ??? (tape player input)

Which of these inputs will work better for the tv sound output; and for the CD player output?

thanks!

Reid

Aren't there any names for the 1 and 2 inputs? If those figures are actually correct 1 would seem to be for a turntable with moving coil (low output) cartridge, 2 for a conventional (moving magnet) cardridge and 3 for a conventional low level input, such as the CD player.

From what info you give, it would seem you only have one standard input, and can't connect thhe TV sound and CD player, but you don't say how you plan to get TV sound to the receiver.

Thanks for the reply.

input 1 is marked Phono
input 2 is marked Aux/DAD (should give some sense of unit age)
no info on other input (actually 2 inputs, marked tape 1 and 2)

I've L and R RCAs out of the TV headed for the receiver.

Well, that should have been fairly obvious. #1 is for Photo (Turntable) only. The other two can be used for pretty much anything else, including a CD player and the TV. How the volume will work with the TV will depend on the output from the TV and how it is configured.
