Hello everyone,
I did some searching on this forum looking for info on the following receivers.

Onkyo TX-SR600 ($400, no shipping, no tax)
Denon AVR-1803 (~$375, no tax)
HK AVR-225 (~$350, no tax)

These seem to meet my hookup requirements and get great reviews in the magazines/web sites/etc. I'm putting together a 5.1 system on a pretty tight budget. These fit into my budget pretty well, also.

I saw the Onkyo 500 problems with LFE, but within that post I understood that it wasn't a problem with the 600's. Is that a good assumption?

Anyway, any comments would be greatly appreciated. I'm leaning toward the Denon or Onkyo, because of asthetics more than anything else, but the power rating of the HK is quite a bit lower.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

I compared the Onkyo and the H/K 320 head-to-head before settling on the H/K AVR-325. The H/K was the clear winner in the sound category, with the Onkyo seeming a little boomy and not as clean as the H/K.

Another question... Is the Denon AVR-1603 the same as the AVR-1803, just with less inputs? Their web site gives the same performance numbers.

Nevermind, I just looked them up on the thread with the comparison chart. That chart is a great thing!

It looks like I loose a channel, which is OK, since I'm only making a 5.1 system. I would also loose component inputs, but again OK, since my running the video straight to the TV. It has 2 component inputs and 3 S-Video.

Brian- for straight up 5.1 DD, DTS, PLII and PL7- the clean sound and true power of the HK225 entry level receiver is amazing- great unit hands down! Turn it low, turn it high- nothing but pure music.
