The time has come to pick a receiver now that it looks like I'm settled on buying the Axiom M22ti, VP100 and M3Ti for surrounds. I've read that these can seem somewhat bright so I'm leaning toward a receiver that doesn't also add brightness.

Pro-logic 2 is a requirement so I'm basically looking at the newer models only. Home theater will be the primary use with a 20% or less music use.

I had planned on staying in the $1000 range but I'm flexible if there is a significant improvement for a few hundred. Bass will be handled by an SVS sub and my room is only 16' x 12'.

Walt, I use a H/K AVR520 to power my M3's and VP100 and I think it's an excellent combo. I find myself listening to "pure" 2ch. stereo more and more and the sound is wonderful! Now I know what things like "soundstage" and "imaging" mean. I just can't wait to get my hands on a pair of M60's:D.
Good listening with your Axiom's and keep us posted.
