I was wondering whether or not I could sit my DVD player on top of my receiver. My receiver is the Yamaha HTR-5560. My DVD player is pretty light so I know the receiver could handle the weight, but it has heat vents on top. It does run fairly cool, however. Would sitting my DVD player on top of it hurt anything? The DVD player does have legs on it so it would be about a 1/2 inch above the receiver and the vents wouldn't be blocked completely.

It won't be ideal, but if you're out of space that might be your only choice. It'll work, and probably won't hurt anything much, but I don't think anyone would recommend it as a permenant solution.

I wouldn't recommend it as a temporary solution. Remember, heat is the number one cause of mortality among electronics. Give the receiver more room to "breathe."
