I need some advice in a couple of areas...

Currently I have my spare reciever ( a newer Sherwood entry level 2 channel) running my system in a dorm. I had an older Yamaha that up and quit about three months ago. I use my setup exclusively for music, not much of a TV or movie person. I have some newer "ok" Sony bookshelf speakers that I use, I've had those for about 4 years.

I'm faced with all of these inputs:

*Turntable (newer, can use either phono or aux input)
    *8 Track Deck
    *Cassette Deck
    *CD Changer
    *Computer
    *Ipod
    *Satellite Radio Tuner

Here's the deal...I'm tired of having to plug and unplug audio sources from the back, every time I want to use something different. How can I connect all of these to my receiver at once? Y adapters/ Selector box?

Here's the main question...I'm looking for a new receiver. I don't need an A/V receiver, just a 2 channel unit. Since I have the age old "college budget", I can only shell out around $200. Any suggestions on a 2 channel receiver in this price range? What exactly is a "refurbished unit"? I've seen several companies offer these.

Also, I need some advice in the speaker area, I have around $200 to spend on these as well. The sony's lack a little clarity on the high end.

    I appreciate any comments..

How many inputs is your Sherwood short? I would of thought it could handle all those sources at once.

So you have $400 to spend. You need 2 spekaers and an AVR with lots of inputs? Just to clarify a little.

Hmm radio shack has a 4 way switcher for $19.99...

Two of those would give your current stereo reciever more than enough inputs.

This allows you to buy two new speakers with most of the money. Can you sort of describe what you are looking for speaker wise? Floor standing? Bookshelf?

Qty2 JBL E100's would be great for dorm use, but a little over budget.

The selector is a good idea. The sherwood doesnt seem to have the guts (100x2). Not a very high current receiver I guess. I have heard about some of those receivers with 50x2, but have high current ratings. So I'd still like to pick up a new receiver.

As for speakers, a decent set of bookshelves are preferred, but floor standing would do the trick as well.

Those were like some of the hottest recievers ever made back in the day.

I did some searching and did not really come up with good powerful stereo recievers around at all.

Non of the models I am finding available have anymore power than what you have. Maybe check H/K's ebay store?
