B&Ws sing with high current amps, the best being ones that truly double down form 8 to 4 ohms etc. The CDM line will tolerate a good receiver, such as a B&K 305/307, Denon 5800, and on the lower end the Denon 4802. Another excellent low priced choice is the Arcam receiver which has now recieved DPL II (1200). For a fantastic budget alternative, pick up a used B&K AVR 202 reciever. For separates, you have your choice of pre-amps such as the Outlaw, Rotel, Parasound, the Myryad ($2600), and the more expensive Sunfire, Anthem etc. The amplifier choices should include the Rotel 1075/1095 and the ATI 1506 (nee Outlaw 755) on the budget end, and the Sunfire Cinema Grand (2750) in the middle, and the Classe CAV-180 (the CAV-150 is great used) and the Bryston 9BST. If you are just looking for a two channel amp, the Rotel 1090 and the Classe two channel amps immediately spring to mind as good alternatives.
