    Hi,
My aunt owns a 48" Sony RPT, She told me that she got a phone call from the store which she got it from. They said it was time to clean the guns on her sony. Since I don't own a RPT yet, she wants to know if this is true.
    Thanks

    Richard,
How long has she had it?
If she has had the set for over 6 months, I'd say that her set probably does need a cleaning. It doesn't take long for dust to coat the mirror and guns and it doesn't take a lot of dust to affect picture quality.
I clean my RPTV about every 3-4 months to keep it at optimal performance.

    Greetings
It becomes even more important if the owner is a smoker and if the home is very dusty most of the time.
For myself, I took the screen off after about 9 months to find little to no dust build up. I can get to be a clean freak every so often.
Just make sure that the visit is free? or covered by extended warranty. Wouldn't pay more than $50 to get this done. Rather do it myself.
    Regards
