Rear and Mid Surrounds in 7.1 setup question (1 Viewer)

I recently acquired a 2nd set of surrounds for my speaker setup (All Acoustic Research Hi-Res series, AR1, AR2C, AR17, AR15).

The question I had was, in a dedicated HT with the viewing position about 3/4 of the way back (about halfway between center and rear of room), which surrounds I should put in the middle vs the rear.. The AR17s are very nice, but the AR15s are the next model up in performance and specs.. Would it be better to put the better performing surrounds in the rear or in the mid?

No thoughts on which spot to put the better surrounds? I've never run a 7.1 setup, so optimally I would have 2 equal sets of surrounds, but this is not the case.. Which position should I put the slightly better set at, middle or rear?
