There are many RCA VGA to Component adapters (VHDC300) on eBay for really low prices. So low that I'm assuming that there is something wrong with them. ANyone know the story on these? Do they work with anything besides the RCA set top boxes? I'm looking for something that will convert Dreamcast signals to 480p and/or convert a PC signal to component...

    Thanks,
    -Dave

    Dave,

they work, but don't have the necessary bandwidth to convert HD signals without signal degredation. 480p will look just as good with the RCA converter as any other, but 1080i will not look as good. Whether the difference is worth another $150 probably depends on what you'll be viewing on (small RPTV or 100" projector?)

Thanks for the input, Matt. What would you think about using it on a 57"? The Dreamcast would be a 480p signal, and I'm not sure what resolution options I'd have on the PC output, but that would also be for gaming purposes.

    Thanks,
    Dave
