Is there such a thing ??? Tried the usual places, Fry's, CC, BB but no luck.

Here is the deal: I have a stack of VHS tapes that I want to archive on CDR (VCD). I have a 20 year old Magnavox that's not being used and perfect for the job. The problem is my sound card takes a stereo mini plug for line in, the old Magavox is a mono and only has a single RCA audio out, so far, I have no luck finding a setup that has a single RCA to a stereo miniplug. I tried just plugged in one side of a 2 RCA to miniplug connector, but then I only get audio on one speaker.

Ohyeah, if you cant do that, try just getting a splitter, but use it backwards.. i know its not the best way, but it should work.

Steve, you can also just get a RCA Y cable and run your mono out on your vcr to two RCA cables and then at the other end run them into a stereo RCA -> mini converter. This won't get you stereo but it'll get the same signal out both channels. Wow, your vcr is 20 years old!? I had a Quasar from 1985 that lasted about 15 years - most of those in actual use.

    cheers,

Thanks to all, the winner is Radioshack, they have a wall of gizmo connectors and convertor, one of which is a "phono to stereo minijack", BINGO ($2.99).
