Have seen the review in HT [glowing] and see this TV at BB for $2500. Any input on the picture quality [this set lacks 3:2] and/or HDTV reciever. Thanks.

Picture quality is excellent. I've seen it 5-6 times in various stores. Having the HD decoder built in as well as the Direct TV decoder is an advantage at this time. I've seen it on sale at Circuit City for $2375 and on eBay for hundreds less.
All in all, a lot of value built into this set. My reservation, I not only want to go wide screen but big screen. 38" looks tiny compared to a 57", 61", or 65". RCA has essentially the same set in a 61" projector model.
If sitting close is not a problem for you, the 38 might do the trick.

The issue with this set is also what will happen with the Directv/Dish merger. Supposedly the current DSS receiver hardware will become obsolete at some point. Kind of hard to swap a DSS receiver that is built in to your TV.
