If you insist on threads not meandering at all into otttopic directions, take it up with the mods. if they don't want to do any enforcement, maybe they'll appoint you as a new moderator to do such on-topic enforcement? ;)
You are correct. I find this thread has become pointless, boring, and whinny I’ll will “unwatch” it.

All I can say is that if the other mods appoint you as a new moderator to perform on-topic enforcement duties, just hope it doesn't become a "very busy" unpaid "full time job" for you. :)

As far as I can tell historically, heavy handed enforcement of off-topic non-religion/non-politics stuff was never really done extensively here. (Hopefully heavy handed enforcement doesn't drive too many users away, and/or affect revenue from advertising).

Are they always hitting you with "sniper questions"? ;)

As I got older, I've come to appreciate more my "invisible" position in life where I don't have to answer to anybody in life. Hardly anybody in my offline life knows what I really think, largely due to my family/acquaintances assuming I am a "non-entity" in their lives. They just assume I am too "clueless" or a complete moron to ask anything about.

(When I was younger, I was constantly angry about being ignored by everyone of significance to me offline).

Whenever I do hit them with "sniper shot" type questions one-on-one, they're suddenly shocked that I actually know anything and can piece things together. Basically a "deer in the headlights" look. After that I mention that anything they say is completely off-the-record, which will usually calm them down. Some will subsequently admit as to why they're willing to be an undercover hypocrite, frequently for pragmatic "means to an end" type of reasons (or excuses).

It depends on the life you lead. My brother-in-law is in his mid 50s living in Toronto. He fancies himself an artist/musician/author, but he specializes in such arcane subjects that he is totally removed from the real world and his knowledge stops at about 1980.

We needed to get ahold of him and my daughter said she would order an “Uber” for him (Toronto is Uber centre for Canada). He had no idea what she was talking about.

(On a tangent).

I had a similar first-hand experience of being very insular, and only "being current" in certain highly specialized arcane subjects. For me this lasted 20-25 years, approximately from the late-1980s to around 2010 or so.

During that 20-25 years time period, I was largely ignorant of the real world outside of certain arcane subjects. The only things outside of my insular "bubble" was reading the occassional discarded newspaper at a coffeehouse or watching daily Star Trek franchise reruns. (For blocks of several years, I didn't even have a tv at home).

Though paradoxically, I usually kept some 24 hour tv (or radio) news channels playing on in the background when I was at home. (This was largely "background noise" for me). For reasons I don't understand, I don't remember much of anything in the news other than high speed police car chases which were done as live broadcasts.

Sorta strange being clueless about the real world, and then being thrust into it one day.

(The "arcane subjects" which I was obsessed with over that 20-25 years period, will remain unnamed).
