Ok, I managed to grab two old DEC racks from the office. One is being/will be used for my NOC. It will be in separate location, so no worries about cabling, etc. getting mixed up. The other will have a niche built for it in the HT, allowing me roll it our for replacements/etc.

Questions I have, has anyone used old computer racks successfully? I know that they are essentially the same, a 19" rack is a 19" rack, after all. Guess I am just looking for some suggestions, or possible issues.

As long as it can hold your equipment and you're happy with the appearance, go for it.

It should be fine as long as your gear isn't to heavy. A solid level rack is better than a flimsy rack with to much weight.
