    Hi all.

I was wondering if someone might be good enough to tell me if any of the R2 Hammer DVDs are anamorphic, as opposed to their R1 counterparts?

    For example:

    Dracula Prince of Darkness
The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires
    Satanic Rites of Dracula
    etc.

    Many thanks in advance.

    John,

Thanks a lot. I forgot about this very informative Web page. However, not quite all was revealed. [IMG] I'm still a little uncertain as to whether there is an anamorphic release of The Satanic Rites of Dracula, but it seems reasonably clear there is not one in R2.

    Thanks again.

This Region 0 NTSC Australian release is supposedly anamorphic.

    James,

Thanks for the lead, however I tracked that DVD down via eBay and, while it is R0, it is not anamorphic. Actually, I'm not even sure it is NTSC. It did play through my Pioneer DV-59AVi, which doesn't do PAL/NTSC conversion, so I guess it must be, but the picture was skewed and bent upwards on the left side. It was very strange, as I had never seen anything like that. My Samsung, which is region free and does do PAL/NTSC conversion played it fine.

Anyways, the video quality on this release, as with all of the releases of this film save Anchor Bay's is atrocious. So, I guess I will be sticking with that version until Blue Underground or somebody else improves upon that release.
