RIP Lt. Uhura. You lived long and prospered.
Another tragic loss this - what a CLASSY person - she will be missed --- she was TALENT!Nice Spock reference there!
Yep!many a young mans first Sci Fi crush,
got the chance to meet her once 1986 in Chicago a memory that I hold dear, at a convention, and she took the stage and started singing with the voice of an angel. Acapella, the entire room was enraptured, then began just conversations with the crowd, Not questions and answers, but actual conversations about , Trek, her time at NASA, growing up in the Chicago area. What an amazing person!
RIP.
Hardly a rumor. She's been relaying that info for decades. Her and Bill Russell on the same day. Brutal.
She participated in an AMA on Reddit some years back, before she was stricken with dementia, and she was asked about the rumor that Martin Luther King Jr. had convinced her to stay on "Star Trek":

A heroine to many - a leader - an innovator - a CLASS ACT - Dear Lord let flights of Angels escort her to eternity. May She Rest In Peace!Eighty Nine years is a long life and she was clearly a beautiful and accomplished woman yet I am still saddened by yet another unexpected loss. We've lost some serious star power over the past several weeks.
