He was so memorable as the identical twins Garth and Barth Gimbel on "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman". A very funny man, who will be missed.

That's a shame.

I remember him most as Principal Kraft on Sabrina.

May he rest In peace.

I am surprised nobody mentioned FERNWOOD 2 NIGHT and AMERICA 2 NIGHT. I remember as a kid laughing hysterically at the talk show sendup with Fred Willard and Happy Kyne and the Mirthmakers.

With Martin Mull's passing at 80 yesterday, I just wanted to acknowledge losing him. Loved him in a short lived series in 1984, Domestic Life that aired on CBS. It was an over the top family comedy where Mr. Mull played a father and newscaster who was over his head with his family. Mr. Mull may not have been Tom Cruise or a big movie star. But I liked him, and perhaps some others might want to say a few words. P.S. If I'm in the wrong forum, can somebody direct this thread to the correct one.

The film I think of with Mull is Mr. Mom- the head honcho at the advertising agency where Terri Garr’s character works. He was great as the poster board for the bad side of Corporate America- he expected all his subordinates to kiss his ring. Another film is Take This Job And Shove It. RIP. 🙁

I always remember his appearance on The Golden Girls playing an agorophobic hippie who receives Meals on Wheels. When Dorothy is helping Sophia deliver meals one day, she sees a young, able-bodied man picking up a meal. She wonders why and finds out he hasn't left his apartment in over 20 years. She sees him as a project and tries to help him overcome his fears and rejoin the outside world, while he develops a crush on her, being the first woman he's allowed into his apartment in decades and the fact that she can name all members of the Chicago 7 makes her irresistible to him.

RIP

I wanted to bump this thread because I just came across a rerun of The Golden Girls in which Martin Mull was featured as a guest star.

I'm pretty sure I've seen every episode of The Golden Girls several times, but it is one of those shows that I can watch over and over. If I turn to it when it is on, I almost always get sucked in. This is the first time I've seen this particular rerun since Mull's passing, so I took special notice of his appearance in it.

Mull played Jimmy, a man Dorothy meets while she and Sophia are volunteering for Meals On Wheels. The episode is season 6 episode 4, "Snap Out Of It" if anyone wants to find it.

Mull was a guest star of the week and never appeared again, but he made a strong impression acting primarily alongside Bea Arthur. He was able to make the character sympathetic and investable even though he is in a rather unique situation and a somewhat more serious storyline for this show. Multi-episode stories weren't frequent for this show, but Mull made the most of his single appearance.
