    Hi

    A few questions I wish to ask just out of curiosity.

    a. Why is the cylinder series from SVS more popular than their box models and box subs from HSU more popular than their cylinder models?

    b. What is the difference between HSU's STF and VTF series?

    c. Why not compare CS/PCs and PBs to TNs and VTFs respectively?

    d. I've read in a few places that HSU VTF3 is more musical than SVS. Is that true?

    If the questions have already been answered, please post the link if possible.

    Cheers. [IMG]

    Not sure what you're looking for here, but here are my highly personal answers.

    a. Why is the cylinder series from SVS more popular than their box models and box subs from HSU more popular than their cylinder models?

    Is that so?

    b. What is the difference between HSU's STF and VTF series?

    VTF=Variable tuning
    STF=Fixed tuning

    c. Why not compare CS/PCs and PBs to TNs and VTFs respectively?

    Why not is right.

    d. I've read in a few places that HSU VTF3 is more musical than SVS. Is that true?

    Debatable.

    Thapa..

    1. Not sure how you know that... nor if it is true, at least in the last year...

    2. Tony is right

    3. Comparing price to price is the way to go, regardless of shape.

    4. Neither is more musical... though that debate will rage... There is a lot of hostility between the owners of both company's subs... Tony Genovese (I believe) owns both Hsu and SVS, and so do I... I could easily make either sound better with room placement... and can also set them so telling a difference would be about impossible.

    Are you thinking about buying one ?

    I thought Tom Vodhanel and Ron Stimpson owned SVS, and that Dr. HSU owns HSU.

    Thanks for the answers so far guys.

    And Craig is right. Curiosity does take you places. In fact, I am looking to buy one. Not now though. In a month or two or three, when I've saved enough.

    Besides that, given the fact SVS and HSU are generally regarded as the best the market has to offer, it just makes one curious to understand their products completely (or atleast as much as one can).

    And Qus (a) came from the fact that you see HSU's VTFs and SVS's PCs mentioned a lot more than the other ones. Again makes one wonder.

    Thapa... Hsu Definitely sells more box subs than they do cylinders.. not sure about SVS anymore... it is probably close...

    and you will enjoy the search... both companies make great stuff !

    I just hope my wife does not see I compared hers and mine meeting to your subwoofer shopping...[IMG]

    But Marko told me this was true. Who am I to believe???? [IMG]

    Seriously though I don't believe musicality is somehting specific to one sub unless one can't really play the lowest end of the spectrum and both do well.

    One other difference which to some is a big deal is where they are made:

    Hsu is chinese made while SVS is american. I thought that the TN might be american so someone correct me?
