i have one of the cheaper sony HTIB systems and am using pretty much all available ports.

i recently decided to try hooking up my xbox 360 to the tv using an hdmi, then an optical cable out from the tv for sound.

my only option left on the receiever (used the only hdmi for xbox) is component out, so i went and bought the $25 RGB cable and hooked it up. It works...but i'm only getting 480p when I assumed I would get 1080i. can component not support the larger resolution? I dont understand because when I had the 360 hooked up via the component cables I got 1080i no problem.

I only tried this out to get 1080p for the xbox, and 1080i for the receiever.

Any thoughts?
