Can I hook up a Paradigm Reference setup which are rated at 8ohms to my Pioneer Elite VSX-39TX rated for 120x5 into 6ohms?

Are there any problems in this potential combination of hardware?

Also even if it will work with no problems are there any disadvantages to having 8ohms speakers setup on a 6ohm receiver?

    thanks

I have Paradigm reference model 60's hooked up to my 39TX.

I have the speakers setup in a separate room from the receiver (speaker "B" setting), as the Paradigms are used strictly for music. Have no problems with this setup.

That's merely a rating of watting into 6 ohms. It is not an indication that it won't handle an 8 ohm speaker.

You will be fine, and the Pioneer's match up well with the excellent Reference line from Paradigm.

correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be safer to connect 8 ohm speakers to a receiver rated at 6 ohms than vice versa because a receiver rated at less ohms would be designed to send out more current without clipping, and therefore give a cleaner signal to the speakers?
