What sub cable ar you using now and how long is it? If you want to use coax cable, you can use RG6 with F-RCA adaptors.

I'm using a radio shack digital coax audio cable that's 12 feet long, but my sub is only 2 feet away from my sub.

i want to pick up a 3 foot cable, but would i be getting better performance from a digital coax or standard audio cable?

I doubt you could detect any difference, especially at those short lengths. A well shielded cable will do the trick.
