Quick Graphics Card Fan Question (1 Viewer)

Is the fan on a graphics card (ATI Radeon 8500LE/128MB) supposed to run continuously, or only when the card gets beyond a certain temperature?

Thanks for the response. I just noticed that my card's fan isn't running, and I'm not sure how long it has been this way. I haven't noticed any degradation of video, but obviously want this working correctly. Thanks for the reply.

Definitely stop using it for any extended period of time and don't play any games until you get that fixed. I'm not sure if it would be as big a problem with your card, but my old roommate had a geforce 1 ddr that burned up when its fan went out and he didn't notice.

Thanks guys. I called my vendor's support line, explained my problem and tried a couple quick troubleshooting suggestions. The fan is still dead, and they'll send me a new card ASAP under warranty. I'll swap it out, send the old one back and hopefully be good to go.
