I recently began to use a DVD recorder (my grandfather got one for Christmas, but thus far, I've been the only one to put it to good use!) and I wanted to ask one question.

Thus far, I've used DVD-RWs to much success. Clean picture, flawless recording, and works on all set-top DVD players and computer. My simple question is this, on DVD recorders with a pause recording feature, can DVD-R's pause as well? I know that DVD-R's can be recorded on once, and this is why I asked.

If the DVD Recorder has a pause on the remote it will pause the DVD-R. For example, if you want to cut out the commercials from a program just hit pause when the commercial starts and then pause or record (depends on the recorder) to start again. The only problem is if you hit pause at the wrong time you will lose that part of the program. This is much easier with a DVD recorder with HDD in that you can edit the material after recording but is doable by hitting pause.
