On Thursday, I received by delivery my first HDTV-ready monitor from Samsung, model TXM2797HF. After a few days, I was able to customize it to a way according to my personal preferences. I am very satisfied with the TV after a few months researching it. However, there I have two questions on my TV that concerns me:

    1. How to remove the Velocity Scan Modulation effect from the TV screen?

    2. How to eliminate over-scan? It is a problem, as I lose about 10% of the screen, especially watching wide-screen movies.

    Any help is appreciated?

TO get into the Srvice mode you should be able to ( I have the 3294HF) press mute-1-8-2- power. Go to VML and make sure it is set to no more then 10 (this will shut off or mostly elimahte VSM). As far as geometry, get AVIA or VE, use the overscan pattern and go into the gemoetry settings in the service menu (make sure you write down the factory defaults just in case) and play around with it until you get it right.

That you for your help, but it seems that by pressing the numbers and the power button, I did not enter the Service mode. I am unsure whether to do this while turning of the TV or while it on.

What does the VSM do? Why does every one shut it off? I would love to be able to fix the overscan on my wide screen I lose 5% according to VE.

Do it when the TV is off. Make sure the remote is pointed directly at the TV.

After many attempts to enter the Service mode, I was able to get into it. Now, what should I do now?

    I see this:

    Service / SIM-460A1

    Deflection
    480p Offset
    1080i Offset
    Video Adjust1
    Video Adjust2
    Video Adjust3
    Option (B0h 98h 03h)
    Reset (02-04-29)

If I go to "Deflection," I get these options:

    V Amp
    V Shift
    H EW
    H Shift
    V Linearity
    Upper Linearity
    Lower Linearity
    VSC
    H Parabola
    Upper Corner
    Lower Corner
    H Trapezium
    Bow Angle V Position
    CXA Left Blk
    CXA Right Blk

What should I do now, to deal with overscan and VSM?

Looks nothing like my service menu. I would order the service manual. It will tell you what everything does.
