I can get this receiver in very good shape for very little money and the center channel is no longer working on my previous receiver that I had (17 years, so not bad, really).

But I just have some questions because it isn't the easiest thing finding thorough info for this receiver anymore naturally. Good reviews, but practical places to ask for help are limited. If anyone can help me out understanding the following...
1. Is there nothing one can use other than the proprietary add-ons for Blutooth and WiFi? I don't need either but just thought it would be interesting if a cheap accessory could be found.
2. I really like is the analog and component video inputs for certain older devices. How does that work, though? Can I get my component video source to go in component and have the receiver send them to my TV via HDMI? Or do those component inputs only work going out via component as well? Because if that's the case I won't be able to use them.

Thank you!

Analog video sources will not be output by hdmi. That receiver is only about three years newer than your current one. Unless it’s free, it’s not exactly a good deal.

Well what it allows me to do for the sources I have makes it much much more useful.
So I will still have to find some kind of component to HDMI conversion device.

Or, connect both hdmi and analog video from the receiver to the TV, and switch the TV's input as needed.

No, the tv only has HDMI. I thought going into the receiver with component would allow me to go out HDMI to the TV. But you're saying I probably can't. So, I still need some way to convert my component sources to HDMI. Either from the sources themselves or through one component - HDMI splitter device.
So now that the receiver can't do that it now becomes less worth what it costs because something newer for roughly the same money will be more worthwhile.

Yeah, just don't expect it to look very good. An unfortunate reality. It might be a bit expensive as well. I've never actually looked into the cost or options.

Just found this one that ought to do the trick. Only question now is -- to speak to your point about the quality/age of the receiver -- if I don't need those analog ins anymore, what can be had for the same money I'm getting this one for that's newer, longer life. And is there maybe an option where a receiver WILL convert those analog to HDMI?

Sure, give that one a shot. $19 with the 5% coupon.

Maybe one exists, but I'm not aware of any receivers that convert analog video/audio to hdmi. You certainly won't get one for $20 more than that converter.

Is there a budget you're aiming at?

I'd like to only pay $150 Canadian max for the receiver.
