I am thinking of getting this movie for my daughter. She is 8 years old. I am just wondering if this movie is appropriate for a girl her age?

Go for it. I'm pretty sure this was rated G in the theaters, and I can't remember anything questionable in the movie - no swearing, no skin, nothing crude, and what little violence there is is presented as pretty horrifying though not graphic.

And, it's a pretty good movie besides.

Todd, look it up on www.screenit.com it will detail anything that could possibly be offensive.

It was actually PG - "for some violence" was the offical reason. But Jason is correct; it's not graphic, and I would think it would be perfectly appropriate. I think she'll probably enjoy it.

I've always been aware of the book (for obvious reasons [IMG] ), but I never did read it. The movie wasn't bad, though.

I took my 7-year-old daughter to the advance screening a few months before it came out, and she loved it. She had a lot of questions about death and mortality afterward, but that was good. In fact, she loved the movie so much that she went to see it again, with my wife, after it opened.

    It's a wonderful movie.

I took my 2 daughters as well aged 8 & 10 and they really liked it. I enjoyed it too...even though I was hoping for a tad more depth. Still a good film. I'll get the dvd for sure.
