    Hello,
I have the opportunity to add a Denon POA8200 2 channel amp to my 3801 for Stereo listening. Do you think the additional amp will make much of a difference? The POA-8200 is rated at 120watts into 8 ohms and is THX certified.
    Thanks
    James

    James,
I've never heard either the amp or the 3801 but I think you will find that it will help when you drive all 7 speakers at the same time.
In essence you'll only be driving 5 channels with the 3801 and this will probably increasing the amount of power you get from those 5 channels.
I've been thinking about doing the same for my 5800 by getting mono-blocks to drive the L, R and C.

I think that the speakers I'm using could be a factor too! [IMG] I have a Paradigm Studio setup w/ 40's/CC/20's. The Paradigm don't seem that hard to drive but have also read that they really sing with better amplication. The question is how much of an upgrade the POA-8200 would be? Anyone hear this combo? Denon POA-8200 with Studio 40's?
    Thanks
    James

    James,
No more Lexicon DC2 with HK signature 1.5/2.1 amps?
I used to have two poa8200s. IMO, the 8200 is a worthwhile upgrade over the 3801....but not as good as the HK signature 1.5 200x2 amp you used to have...which J&R still sells for $499 NIB.

    Hi Ricky,
This is the bedroom system! The Lex, HK, NHT setup remains! I want a little more juice mainly just for stereo and the price for the POA8200 is under $300. I'm hoping for a noticeable difference.
