Question on where to put the spikes in my speaker stands please help

    Ok im building some 20"-24" speaker stands for my front speakers and im wondering if i should put the spikes in the speakers or on the top of the stand ? or does it matter on what type of finish i do for my speakers or doesnt it matter at all ? please help me out.

    If they're spikes as in a cylinder, it doesn't matter, but if they're cones, even if just a pointed nail, then it matters which way they're turned.

    If your component is the major source of noise/vibration, then the point should be up. If noise from ground (the stand) is higher, the point should be down.

    If it were me, I'd put spikes on the bottom of the stands pointed down to damp them, and spikes on the top of the stand pointed up to damp the speakers.

    If you need to protect the flooring, then drill a slight indent in some metal slugs or pennies for the spike to set in if they don't come with the spikes.
