Today, i showed my friend a couple high res shots of Gladiator and Shrek, and he noticed that the birds in this pic:

were less than a couple pixels at that resolution...
If the native resolution of DVDs are 480i, then how would birds of a few pixels large be visible in such a high resolution with that detail?
Say if the resolution of the screencap was 4 times the resolution of 480i, and the pixels of the bird was 3x3 pixels, then wouldnt it be less than 1 pixel in DVD's native resolution???
Its hard to explain, i dont have this whole thing totally pat down yet...

Nick,

What makes you think that came from a DVD? I didn't read the site- but it looked like a scan from a film cell or more likely a high res output from a CGI shot direct from computer.

Remember, films start out on film... DVD is not the only source for screens captures.

I'm not sure where the idea it came from DVD originated.
