Newegg.com sells OEM DVD burners, so my question is do OEM devices come with at least the drivers ?
Most of the time they do. Even if it doesn't, you can probably find it on the internet somewhere.
Not necessarily drivers per se, but usually a DVD burning software program. Drivers aren't needed for windows to actually recongnize the drive in most cases.
So am I safe to buy an OEM dvd burner with no drivers running XP home edition ?
You can always check MS Hardware Compatibility list. Here's the online verion http://www.microsoft.com/windows/cat...title=hardware
I bought an OEM CD burner from Newegg and it came with Nero and an IDE cable. You shouldn't need to install any drivers manually.
the burner wont require any drivers, only software you want to use to burn with, and you can pretty much use anything you want.
