Hello everyone(anyone?). Just got the 36"XBR450 and really like it. Being stupid, can anyone tell me exactly what the

"3:2 Pulldown" really means? I'm guessing a slight improve-

ment over "progressive" mode for DVD. How about satellite?

I can't really see a difference either way. Oh yeah, the

DVD player is the SONY NS700P, hooked up via the component

jacks of course.Seems like an excellent picture, but maybe

the slightest bit soft. But gorgeous output and will have it

calibrated soon as well. Oh well, I'm rambling.............

    Thanks for any help.

    P.S.

The XBOX kicks ass on it as well!

I've had the Sony 9000ES, RP91, Malata DVD-N996, Sony 7700, and JVC 723 hooked to my 450 and I like the RP91 best, second to the Sony, the Malata and JVC both have their high points but don't compete with the other two. The Sony 7700 looks real good with the TV upconverting it, but I thoght it looked better feeding it's S-Video into an iscan V2. The progressives look better IMO. My preference for the RP91 over the Sony is very slight. Are you looking to change players? Try the RP91 m thinks... Best wishes!

Fellow 36XBR450'er here. I currently have a Toshiba SD 1600 which I bought a while ago (pre-XBR). I too need recommendations on a dvd player.

    cheapo range: toshiba 4700, Sony N700, JVC S70, RP56

    medium range: denon 1600, RP91

    high range: denon 3800

    My concerns:

    Toshiba - chroma bug

Panasonic - build quality, and "scan" bug

    Sony - ??

JVC - its a JVC historical bias I guess

Denon - seems like a solid product but costs $$$
