Question about using US electronics on Plasma/LCD in Hong Kong?

Hopefully this is the right area to post this. My wife and I are moving to Hong Kong in two months and will be staying in a furnished apartment. The apartment has a 42" Hitachi plasma tv. I would like to bring my USA Playstation 3 with me but have no idea whether it will work with this tv in Hong Kong or not. Does anyone know the answer to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately, Hong Kong is on the PAL I standard (same as the UK), whereas we use NTSC in the US. This would really depend on a few factors:

1) Whether the Hitachi TV in the apartment will accept an NTSC signal from the PS3. Technically, HDMI will pass a PAL signal as long as the source supports it, and I'm uncertain whether the US PS3 will do that.

2) The region coding is different, which means you'll likely not be able to play games, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs that are purchased in Hong Kong.

Perhaps someone else can shed some light to this because I'm really not into game consoles...
