I just finished building my 214l adite tempest sub and this monster is massive..

now the designs from the website call for a downfiring box but i was wondering does it really affect performance at all to just simply lay it on its side and point the sub and ports towards a wall?

does downfiring REALLY do anything more than what it is?

im asking first because moving that sub is a huge pain and i dont want to experiment in the corner to find out that with it laying on its side its going to suffer.

HSU Research, who also make tube subs, suggests this as an alternate orientation.

I an actually running mine that way now, behind my couch, after years of stand-up. I can't say I hear anything different. Both work fine (although I do EQ with a BFD), and it looks better when you can't see it:D

Yep, as Brian said it doesn't matter either way with the Tempest. Now crank it up and enjoy:emoji_thumbsup:
