Is it possible to hook up speakers with different impedances? If it is, what effects would this have on my system? I think my receiver has a selection for two different ones. I think it is 4 or 8. Some of the speakers are 4 impedance and one 16 and the others are 8.

I think, then, you'd set it for four. The switch limits the current output of the amp, so that a current-sucking 4-ohm nominal load won't fry the amp.

What speaker group have you assembled? Sounds like quite a mix.
