I've completed my Tempest SBB4 sub and while I'm quite happy, I want to now create a Sonotube enclosure for size and placement reasons. The SBB4 performs great but it's just so damn big and I can't move it around my HT without making it look like an "eye sore".

Anyways, I'm finally getting the hang of LSPCAD except I've forgotten some of my math skills from high school. I was just wondering if someone could tell me the quick formula to figure out what to put in the "Port Min. Area cm^2" field. Please and thanks!!

Just enter the min dia and min length and area fills itself in.

If you're planning on using a round port then you can just fill in the minimum diameter and LspCAD will figure out the minimum area for you. So for instance, with a 4 inch diameter port you'd enter

    Min Dia = 10.16 cm

    and it would fill in

    Min area = 81.1 cm^2

(Edit: Graham beat me to it)

i was confused. I must apologize. I thought they meant the surface area of the cylinderical port tube. I was changing the length field and my area was staying the same. I assumed I had to punch it it manually. Thanks for the help! [IMG]
