I just ordered my Panasonic RP-91. Of course it's on back order (from J&R), so I don't know when I'll see it. But I want to be ready. I have 3 pairs of BetterCables that I can use for the DVD-Audio setup. Question is, do I also need an optical cable (toslink) for regular DVD use? Also, any suggestions for reasonably priced component video cables for this setup? I'll also need two more sets of audio cables to replace the BetterCables in their current positions (TV and VCR). Right now I'm thinking Onix video cables (from AV123) and Outlaw analog and digital optical (if needed) for the audio replacements. Thanks for your help.

    Tim,

If you intend for your receiver (or preamp/processor) to decode DD and DTS (the most likely scenario) you will indeed need to connect an optical cable as well. Also, if you want to use your subwoofer with CDs, you'll need to connect the optical cable (unless you plan on purchasing an ICBM for Bass Management, then you can ignore this).

    Regards,
