I have a Mitsubishi WT-48609 hooked up to a DISH 301 tuner. Right now, the TV will upconvert the 480i signals to either 480p or 960i when it gets a 480i feed.

Was thinking about switching to a DISH 6000 receiver to replace the 301. Now, the 6000 info says that it will upconvert any 480i signals to either 720p or 1080i before sending it to the TV.

So my question is: would I see improvement (on any 480i channels of course) by letting the 6000 do the conversion instead of the TV? It would seem the tuner box would be better equipped to upgrade a signal, but is there a noticeable difference to anyone who has done this?

Many Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,

Short answer is no. Most people Ive talked with perfer the TV to do the upconversion and not the 6000. I agree with them.

FWIW,

Gregg
