My wife really wants this collection of Anime, and the cheapest I can find the US versions is about $90 for the boxset.

While searching Ebay, I found a number of auctions for a two-disc OVA set of Lain. The set appears to be legit, Region 0, lacking a good chunk of the features the Pioneer release has. The majority of the sellers are in Asia.

Any one full of good information about the legitamacy of the two-disc OVA set? Any suggestion for reputable on-line retailers?

Thanks!

I don't believe that there is an OVA of Lain. Accoring to Anime News Network there is no related anime for Lain.
But is the information contained on that site only about American releases?

The various two-disc and four-disc sets on Ebay appear legit, but are significantly cheaper since they're not Pioneer.

Just hoping those sets aren't too good to be true.

Anime News Network is not just about American releases. They have Gundam Seed and Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex in their database, which haven't been released in America.

Chinese & English subs.
None of the legit dealers in HK I checked have it.
Region 0

Looks very suspect to me.

Anything less than 4-discs of Lain is a BOOT!
There are two versions that have English subs that are Legal...
The Region 1 Version (from Pioneer)
The Region 3 Version (from Odex in Singapore)

FYI, any DVD that is
A) From Asian Origin
and
B) Region 0 w/ English subs
IS BOOTLEG UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE

The Odex version is region 0, so will play on North American players. It does not have a dub. dOc's review of the set is here .

Any other version is a bootleg. There is no Lain OVA.
