Question about cinema-re eq on Onkyo. (1 Viewer)

hi all -

i just realized that when i activate the re-eq on my 646, it cuts my rear-channel info by approx 2db. i verified this using my spl.

is that normal? i thought the re-eq function was supposed to tame the higher-frequency "shrillness"?

Roger Dresser from Dolby Labs says CinemaEQ is a global volume shift and he does not seem to recommend using this function. He posted in this thread concerning Cinema Eq and center channel clarity issues.
