I got a new set of PSB Image speakers set up for HT
(Image 7PT for front, 9C for center, 10S for surrounds)
and was balancing them on my Denon 3802 using a SPL meter.
Is it normal for there to be a 15db difference in the right and left front speakers? That is what it takes to get the same reading on the SPL. All other speakers are within 2db of the front right, but that front left speaker is really quiet compared to the other 4. Do I have a bad speaker or something?

I would hook another speaker to that lead and see if there is a difference.. It could be a bad wire/cable or speaker.

I tried a different wire and tried switching right and left on the receiver and got the same results. It is definitely in the speaker. Is that enough of a difference that it is defective?

Have you tried also swapping the left and right speaker physically (not just changing the connection at the receiver)? If it's the same speaker down 15dB you know it's a problem with the speaker. If it isn't the same speaker, then it's a room issue.

But with that much difference my guess is a defective speaker.

I tried physically moving the speaker also, but knew that
it wouldn't make a difference (with 15db, you can hear the
major difference without an SPL, so it is way beyond the room acoustics).
