Does a widescreen TV that accepts a progressive signal need to specifically support 3:2 pulldown or is that all up to the DVD player?

In other words are there 16:9 displays that accept a progressive signal but do not do 3:2 pulldown?

When an HD ready set receives a native 480p signal such as that of a progressive scan DVD player, the sets internal line doubler is by passed...So it would make no difference how good the sets internal doubler is and whether or not the internal doubler is cabable of doing a 3.2 pulldown...The native progressive signal from a progressive scan dvd player will give you a better picture than the set internal line doubler even if the doubler does a 3.2 pull down..
