Question about 16:9 for PS2/Cube/Xbox (1 Viewer)

Can someone tell me which system is better at displaying on a widescreen TV? Are games made in 4:3 or 16:9, or are there some games that are 4:3/16:9 switchable. I'm not just talking about stretching the picture to fit the 16:9 screen here but preserving the correct geometry. Thank you for your help.
