Gamespot have given it 7.1 which is not what i was hoping for, imho they are pretty good with their reviews and after reading it i think i'll stick with my Wipeout games on the humble old PSOne.

I guess it depends on where you're coming from...

I don't pay too much attention to gamespot's reviews period. In their opinion State of Emergency which they gave an 8.5 is a better game than Super Mario Sunshine which they gave an 8.0.

I've played both. SOE is one big crap-fest.

From reading the review, it sounds like the reviewer expected the game to be revolutionary instead of evolutionary.

Gamespot's reviews are becoming hit-or-miss in this respect, because the reviewers either give a game a high score for being fun, or a low score for not being original enough (even if it's fun).

I dunno, reading the review & looking at the score, seems fine to me.

That's why I use reviews only as a guide, & not as a reason for buying/not buying a game.

Still going to check this one out for myself...

the only thing it said was bad was the similarity to wipeout, i wonder if they got someone who hadn't played that serires it would of got higher, and how the hell can they give the sound a 6 with custom soundtrack. IMO the graphics also should of got a 9

Dammit, I just want to know if it supports 16:9 or not. Why can't more reviews tell us that?

I'm still gonna' pick it up, despite the reviews... because so far, I haven't found a driving game on X-Box to my liking. Some people prefer their driving on the sim side -- I like arcade racing and doing stuff that no one could ever really do in a car. I'm hoping Quantum Redshift will satisfy that desire.

Well I picked this up yesterday and I can tell you that IMHO its a pretty solid racer. It plays alot like Wipeout mixed with Pod Racer. Most of the reviews were correct in that the tracks, powerups etc are very plain, the graphics are amazing and the sense of speed is GREAT. The rivalries are pretty goofy though and I wish you could change the appearance of your ship with engine and weapon upgrades... All in all though this isn't a bad pick up if you like the Wipeout type games - especially if you can get it for less than $50 [IMG]

I would agree with the previous sentiment about the game after picking it up yesterday. I wish they had more of a career mode so you could just pick a racer or make your own and then go through series of races or seasons of tournaments. That would be icing on this already good cake.

Lame vehicles. Even lamer characters. KICK-ASS racing! [IMG]
This is a great racer - everything that Wipeout Fusion lacked, IMO. If you were considering this, I highly suggest at least renting it. The first few levels at amateur (+Easy vehicle) are boring, but it picks up fast.
Rip this cd for a custom soundtrack, and you are all set. [IMG]

I have that CD; I even bought all three PS incarnations of the game for the soundtracks. All the Wipeout games have always had the best racing tunes.
