Anyone think there is a chance for a Complete Series Set? Possibly with some corrections? As in audio/video sync, double sided discs, and the mother of all mistakes - music?

It'd be nice. I think every season except season 4 was music intact in the UK. They wouldn't have much work to do.

I would love to see it happen and pay for it.

I thought Georgia was intact on the fifth season set. Unless, as you probably mean, the symmetry was blown by changing the earlier instance.

Bingo. Unless you have a broadcast version of MIA, "Georgia..." means nothing in the final episode, since the DVDs just have cheesy muzak.

However, even if that song was restored, I doubt a lot of the other music could be restored. Some of season 3 was really music heave, and we've all learned music rights holders don't let anything go cheap.

But, as we're all saying, in a perfect world, QL gets rereleased on single side discs with the majority of music intact. And I'll happily pay for it.

The studio always said they "didn't have time" to clear the music. Many here did not believe them, and said they simply couldn't afford it and that the reason they got released intact in England was because of differences in legal options in different regions. Since Universal never said that, and since season 5 came out intact, I tend to believe their earlier statement. Uni started releasing complete sets that were not simple repackagings with Miami Vice and maybe a couple of others, so I hold out hope that QL will get similar treatment at some point.

Does anyone know why seasons 1-3 were released with music intact in Region 2 but with replacements in season 4? That doesn't make sense to me.

Different rights are in the UK compared to the US. I'm going to import Seasons 2 and 3 from the UK along with Season 4. Season 5 is fine in the US though. UK doesn't use DVD-18's though.
And then I'll go to an alternate universe and purchase Seasons 6 and 7.
I just got Season One on Wednesday as a late birthday present from my Mom. Guess that's what I get for getting her Northern Exposure Seasons 1-3 so far.:D

As much as I would love to see a complete series collection of QL, especially with corrections, it's a moot point as far as Universal is concerned. It's just not a money maker for them and I consider it lucky that we even have the episodes on DVD in any form. They just don't think highly of their classic programs and are not going to invest much money into them. I held out hope for the longest time for a QL reunion movie or the much hyped new QL series with Sam's daughter, but it's all dead in the water now. It's a shame because when you think of classic sci-fi TV shows, QL is near the top of the list.

i just started watching this. i am on the 2nd season. this is also a wonderfully written show.

by 1989, i was far away from watching most tv. and i did not start watching this when it first aired.

but while it was airing, they ran some sort of special on it. i think they ran a show every night for a week or two.

anyways, i watched them all at the time, cuz i really liked it.

but i dont know if i ever got to see the whole thing, from beginning to end.

scott bakula has to play an almost entirely different part every week !!

If you're in the US and have a DVD player with all-region capability, stop watching QL now, go to Amazon UK or something, and buy seasons 2 and 3 of QL from region 2.

The music butchery is horrible in the US/region 1 seasons 2 and 3 sets, especially in the episodes Good Morning Peoria and MIA.

If nothing else, make sure to catch the last 5 minutes of S2's season finale (MIA) on You Tube.

As for the show... yeah, season 2 is where the show established itself as a classic. Season 3 is just as strong.

in good morning peoria, was the song that sam and the girl danced to a substitute ? i had never heard it before. i think it was just an instrumental. what song did they actually dance to ? it would have been some sort of love song, cuz it was a romantic moment.

i didnt notice anything else that looked out of sync ? although i think they did play one of the songs twice.

The Glory of Love, by The Five Keys was what they were supposed to be dancing to, IIRC.

that is a good song, and one that would have fit the moment.

the substitute did sound out of place, but at least it was a slow song that fit the moment.

and to be honest, it might not have sounded out of place to someone who was not that familiar with the oldies.

i still liked the episode a lot. in fact, i dont think there has been even one stinker, yet.

the only complaint i have is that i wish they would calm down al's "i just saw tina" gag. i think stockwell does a fine part in acting it out. but it is just written into the script far too often.

they finally had a serious moment about how he felt about something. they were making him into an almost clown-like character.

i just watched animal frat.

at the end, sam is dressed up, and jumps into a small pool from a height.

now i realize that they would have had a stunt specialist actually do the jump.

but before sam jumps, he talks for 30 seconds or more.

and his face is partially concealed.

but there was something about the face that was revealed that did not look like scott bakula.

and the voice did not sound like scott bakula.

does anyone know if they used a double for that whole scene ?

it was obviously scott, once they show him coming out of the pool, cuz there is no longer any mask on his face.

there have been a few instances where the end of the show does not have the correct next episode ?

the one where sam is a black guy has been shown several times, now.

is that an error in the dvds ?

or was it originally aired that way ? possibly cuz they hadnt yet finished the next episode ?

No, it's because in the original network run, the episodes with "incorrect" next episode teasers were leading into a week where a rerun was aired. Apparently, The Color of Truth was a very popular episode to be repeated.

But at least you can't say the original network masters weren't used!
