Putting my HT gear in another room.... (1 Viewer)

I would like to move my HT gear into the room behind the wall that it is at now. This will allow me to "clean up" the wall that the TV, front speakers, and ent. stand currently share. I am pretty sure that the cables I have now are long enough to make it on the other side of the wall. My question is, how do I control the components on the other side of the wall w/o going in that room? Any tips/tricks for a small project like this?

Thanks
Lloyd

I have done the same thing using an IR sensor and Xantech IR repeaters. Works great. I did have to buy an expensive sensor, though, as the cheap ones got intereference from my plasma.

Have a look here:

Also, some equipment has a remote IR sensor input (my B&K Ref 50 does), where you can get a IR sensor with a hard wire, place the IR sensor withing viewing distance of your seating area and run the line to the back of your gear.

Based on my needs I am guessing that the Xantech 291 IR Distribution Kit should work in my situation. It will only be controlling the DVD player, CD player, receiver, and the satelite box.

Awesome, thanks for the input. :)
