Watching ABs recently reissued MISCHIEF, a,movie I always liked from HBO but never owned the dvd, its true that we do not get Kelly Prestons complete performance(yo
u all know what I mean):D
Are there other examples
of nude scenes of any gender getting lost in translatiin from vhs to.dvd?
Do we dare list our favorite nude scenes?
Besides Kellys id have to say Juliet Mills voluptuous body in AVANTI( and Julie Andrews in SOB.

Sometimes, in the early days of home video, "nudity" that was never meant to be seen was ...... seen. When films are remastered properly and seen in their actual correct aspect ratios, the "nudity" is gone which disappoints fans who would normally be aghast at open matte or full frame movies.
For example: In the open matte release of Swing Shift on VHS and laser, Ed Harris wearing only a towel sits down and when he plops himself down, the towel flies up enough to briefly reveal his "manhood". In the correctly matted DVD, this is no longer the case as the incident occurs below the matte line.

All I can think of at the moment is Jean Tripplehorn's ass didn't make it to the Extended version of Waterworld. Apparently they used a cable TV edit for the DVD reissue. It's too bad the film is mostly frowned upon - it's a great entry in the post-apocalyptic action genre, which is actually gaining in popularity. There are no less than four big-budget post-apocalyptic thrillers heading our way:
Elysium (from the Director of DISTRICT 9)
Robopocalypse (Steven Spielberg)
Oblivion (Tom Cruise)
After Earth (M. Night Shyamalan)

yeah, the naughty bits of a number of films are cancelled out when the intended aspect ratio is respected for video release. There is much less to be seen of Brooke Shields on the 1.85:1 DVD of PRETTY BABY than there was on the open matte laserdisc.

Since she was only 12 years old, that's probably for the best, wouldn't you say?

It's an enjoyable shock when you see a star you'd never think would do a nude scene. Deborah Kerr nude in The Gypsy Moths '69 (a very odd film) & the same year wearing see-through stuff in The Arrangement (both very sad rolls). You don't get much nudity now, tons of violence & blood, but no nudity.

The way around this(and a movie from above, but won't mention which one...) is to find/buy releases from other countries.
French movies(even American movies released in France) are often the best choice if you want the "full monty"...
