I am planning on investing in a Home Theater this weekend. I know this is very short noticed but I would like some opinions on the following selections:

BTY the room is 15 W by 18 L with 8 foot ceilings.

TV
Toshiba 36HFX72 or
Sony KV-36HS500

DVD
Panasonic DVP-F65S or
F85K/S models

HTIB
Onkyo HT-S760

I know that most people are not fans of HTIB, however in my case I need to spend most of my budget on a TV. Both the Sony and Toshiba look great in the store but because I do not have HDTV I am not sure which to purchase. Most of time this system will be used for watching movies as I currently have Dolby 2.0 and can not wait to hear surround sound.

As for the DVD players I am planning on buying some DVD-A so I have a feeling that I will get the F85 but I am not sure what the difference is between the S and K models?

I could also use some suggestions on wiring for all these components. Not quite sure what I will need.

Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know about the TV, but the Panasonic DVD player should be perfectly fine. I believe the S is the black model and the K is the silver model, although I could be mixed up on that.

The Onkyo HTB is well-liked and should provide fine sound. I have the SKSHT-500 speakers myself (with the back surround SKB-100 speaker), which I believe are the same speakers as the ones in the new HTB you mentioned, although somewhat redesigned. I just have them with a different receiver.

I've got the 36HS500 and I would recommend it. It might be all in my head, but it seems that Sony makes the best CRTs. Also, I've got the Onkyo SKSHT-500 speakers hooked up to a Sony DA1ES, and they sound great. You'll definitely want to replace all of the speaker wire that comes with it, it is very thin. I'd also consider the Sony 755V DVD player, it's got P-Scan and SACD capabilities, and I'm quite impressed. Who knows though, maybe DVD-A will end up the standard.
